The Chinese philosophy and culture places a great emphasis on balance in the universe. All things are created and governed by a series of different elements, and for true harmony, their polar opposites must be present as well. Diamond pearl earrings are no exception to this rule, as they manage to combine two truly remarkable materials (although each material is special in its own way) diamonds and pearls and offset their different features against one another.Diamonds are designed to be eye catching, with the light being reflected from their different facets of the stone, whilst pearls have a quiet, understated elegance and beauty to them. This seemingly contradictory combination results in a truly awesome finished result, and whilst by no means a new or innovative design, it has been a firm favorite among jewellers.
A degree of caution should be exercised when purchasing diamond pearl earrings, because pearls of an inferior quality will end up marring the overall quality of the earrings regardless of how dazzling the diamonds maybe. A common mistake made by people when purchasing pearls is that they automatically assume that natural pearls (as opposed to artificially created pearls) are in some way superior to their synthetic counterparts. This simply is not true, if you were to compare the two types of pearl, you would be hard pressed to tell the difference between the two. It should be noted that whilst synthetic pearls are created under carefully managed environments, they are still real, and created in exactly the same way as their natural counterparts. A major advantage to synthetic pearls is that you have a greater degree of control over the quality, because there is a much wider selection to choose from. Factors such as shape, size and colour can all be more easily and readily controlled and determined with the artificial pearls. The other element in diamond pearl earrings are the diamonds themselves, and again there a number of different factors which will affect the cost of the diamond stones. The higher the clarity of the diamond stone (clarity referring to the number of flaws present) then the more costly the diamond.
